As part of Argo Group’s diversity and inclusion (D&I) efforts, four Argo employees attended the annual conference of the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) in October. Argo Group is proud to be a partner with NAAIA, an organization committed to empowering African American insurance professionals to succeed in the industry.
Argo partners with NAAIA to provide development opportunities for African American employees.
The company’s support also provides an annual NAAIA membership to nine Argo employees. According to Tirzah Bartley, Underwriting Technical Specialist, Casualty, this has increased her career opportunities. “I can access webinars and seminars hosted by industry leaders and attend events to help me build a large network to use as a resource in my career,” says Tirzah.
NAAIA conference attendees were impressed by Argo’s commitment to D&I.
“Attending the conference gave me a great sense of pride in my company,” says Tirzah. “Argo cares about its employees and is taking actions to increase D&I at the company. Other attendees I spoke with could not say the same about their company.”
Bill Wharton, Head of Argo Insurance, Bermuda, helped introduce career opportunities to attendees through a talent competition.
Bill served as a judge in NAAIA’s Annual Talent Development Competition at the conference. “The competition is designed to introduce students to the many, but rarely understood, career opportunities within the insurance industry,” Bill says. “It’s always inspiring to see young people of color discover the many roles and pathways to a career in insurance.”
